Great Quote to Remember – by Viktor Frankl

“Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our attitude.” – Viktor Frankl

Simple.  Common sense.  Spot on.

I’ve been pretty bummed out tonight, for all kinds of various dumb and boring reasons, probably compounded by lack of sleep over the last 4 days/nights.   All it took was this quote to jumpstart a change in my mind state, tweaking my outlook back to the proper perspective… Kind of like a spiritual chiropractic adjustment.  Life is great.  I was beating myself up for a few errors/imperfections at work today.  But hey, I did my best, as I always do.  I was/am lucky to be working… In Watts, no less.  Surrounded by shanty-style homeless villages under the 105 freeway overpass,  I was selfish enough to be grumpy about my situation, when I was surrounded by such lack of fortune.  Perspective and attitude.  Don’t under estimate their power.  Life is great, and no matter how bad you think you have it, someone has it worse.  You and I have computers or smart phones, etc- obviously, because you’re reading this now… and someone is sleeping in the freezing cold under a freeway overpass tonight with nothing but cardboard insulating them from the concrete.   Live it like you stole it.

  1. Great quote, Alan. Frankl wrote many, but the one you picked tonight fits for me, too!
